Orange/Saffron Color

Standard

Serving others, supporting life in every way without expecting a reward, is akin to the sun shining selflessly on the world. Some say this is the reason for the customary orange/saffron clothes of a swami. Others say the orange clothes are a reminder of the fire, the fire of knowledge that burns away wrong knowledge, the fire of the hardship that burns away desire and attachment.

…. A swami’s life and work, which is timeless and independent of all religion, is beneficial in the present Western societies. The reference point is the wisdom scriptures of the world; therefore one studies the scriptures (swadhya), lives a life of self-discipline (tapasya) and surrenders oneself to (knows oneself embedded in) the Divine (Ishvara pranidhana).

With that comes humility, universal love and devotion and never taking things for granted! If this is his/her inner practice, it expresses in the outside world as a guiding light to others. As Swami Shivananda joked: A swami wears orange clothes so that those that seek his teachings can find him easily, those that don’t can turn away.

WARNING!: Knowing The Enemy

Standard

Know the source of the Enemy on Earth and also in the Transcendental Realm.

Their techniques are based in Deception and are used for the acquisition of siddhis (psychic powers) and other forms of control. If presented with the opportunity to know these techniques, they are to be avoided like the plague as the human race is not immune to corruption.

WARNING! These techniques are employed as a wolf in sheep’s clothing!

If one has found oneself angry at or discomforted by politics, religion, or any other method of control, this anger is a sign that deception is working! This discomfort acts as a subtle parasite which sucks out the energy from one’s being and results in the weakening of one’s innate vital force. In order to counter this subtle attack, practice awareness, detachment, and compassion IN THAT ORDER. One’s force will begin to strengthen and one’s status as a warrior will be upgraded.

If it is one’s swadharma (current individual role in live) to embark on this path that leads to knowledge of these techniques, even if the reasoning is based in the desire to strengthen one’s ability to overcome through the triumph of Good over Evil (which takes place through awareness, detachment and compassion), in this case one should seek a trusted person whose wisdom surpasses one’s own for guidance. This person can be of any nature; this is one’s Guru.

If the Universe is already presenting one with much knowledge without one’s asking for it, for example through amazing synchronicities, then this is the sign that it is time to make contact with one’s Guru. Taking steps down the famed path of The Razor’s Edge has already begun, but the path continues and gets more narrow and more winding as one ventures deeper into the forest. There is however an end to that path. That end is Pure Consciousness.

Have you been missing something lately?

Standard

Probably means your life is not as aligned as it could be!

Reserve some time for cleaning up, putting things in their proper place, and finding the proper place for those things that don’t yet have a proper place.

In this way, you will be creating a mandala in your life, that will eventually lead to synchronicity of desires and fruition of those desires, provided they are in line with dharma!

Hope. Faith. Peace. Love. Believe.

Standard

This message came to me in the minute that followed the thought:

There is an inherent element of faith in all that we believe. Faith is an integral part in any knowledge whether it be right or wrong knowledge, fancy, sleep or memory.

This reminds me of an event in my life I can use as an anecdote:

I once met a woman who did not believe that we had ever gone to the moon. She was a firm believer that the video of Niel Armstrong landing on the moon was a fake, filmed by the government.

This in itself is a form of knowledge, and who am I to judge whether it is right or not? It would take an act of faith to believe either way that Niel Armstrong landed on the moon or not. Even if I were Niel Armstrong, I must have faith that my subjective experience is real. So even knowledge of our own self takes an act of faith that we exist.

This is of course none-other than the epistemological question.

So what about Science? The name itself implies “knowledge”. And so even the things that we “prove” using the scientific method are still in some way based in faith. In fact any scientist by profession knows that in fact there is no real proof, but only supporting evidence.

The backbone of the scientific method is a form of criticism which attempts to constantly evolve our methods to include lesser and lesser bias. Nonetheless, the only experiment that can be completely non-biased is that of the Universe in its entirety: an integral over all of space-time. Unity.

The current scientific method rejects the incorporation of pure Unity into its toolbox in that it refuses to recognize conscious experience as a valid means for information acquisition. Though, conscious experience is, without a doubt, to be included in the integral over all of space-time.

We can deconstruct this idea to show that on a more fundamental level the scientific method reduces to none-other than “Ego”, as “Ego” reduces to none-other than “Dualism”: Ego if nothing else defines individuality of a given object or being by its separation from everything else; and so with the existence of Ego there can never be one single existence, but there will always be at least two: the individual and everything else.

Therefore, even our widely accepted form of information acquisition, the Scientific Method, reflects our attachment to Ego and worship of Dualism, as it makes a distinction between the quality of knowledge obtained by objective and by subjective means. However, technological developments are taking place at an extremely rapid rate, and this rejection of a complete view is being dissolved in the current metaphysical revolution, liberating and expanding our access to absolute truth.

This is the goal of Tantra.

Meditation for the Day (Removing Obstacles)

Standard
  1. Make a quick list  in your head of (lets say 10) things for which you are grateful in your life.
  2. Now make another quick list in your head of (lets say 5) things which are undesirable in your life.
  3. Meditation Part 1 (Dharana): Now go back over the first list and try to find the root of your identification of these things for which you are grateful. How many of them stem from Ego?
  4. Meditation Part 2 (Dhyana) : Now go back to the second list and perform the same task. This will probably prove to be much more difficult. It may prove that the items in the first and second list are intimately connected. This part of the meditation will be facilitated by the object of meditation taking the form of the following thought:

This discomfort in my life is a surely a result of my attachment to Ego. I surrender myself to this concept in the attempt at identifying the source of my discomfort.

  5. Samadhi: The identification of the source of discomfort will result in spontaneous one-pointedness on the situation which will eventually lead to dissolution of the Ego with respect to this situation and will remove all obstacles in life which have created this undesirable situation.

Hari Om Tat Sat

Question:

Standard

What will future archeologists (if there are any) recover in future history, perhaps a millennia or more from now, and what might be the “accepted” variation thereof allowed for public consumption?

What is termed in Indian scripture as the Kali Yuga (loosely translated as “the age of vice”) can be (very succinctly) identified with the worship of kama, which, in the most general sense is meant to be understood as “sensory pleasure,” regarding even the mind as a sense. This means in simple terms that a for civilization entering into Kali Yuga both its individuals and as societies, (and, more precisely, their value systems) will become more and more concerned with the gratification of that timeless entity that recurs in seemingly all of our cherished existential philosophies, religions, and schools of thought: that which is the Ego. More specific attributes for Kali Yuga can be found here.

It is interesting how much our current state of society is increasingly resembling (as our adventure along the temporal dimension continues) the Kali Yuga, and many of the objects that an archeologist will discover from this period will undoubtedly reflect this, i.e. objects that gratify the ego will be found all over: this includes but is certainly not limited to luxury objects which deplete resources, instruments that are made to enhance the power of certain privileged groups and individuals such as weapons of mass destruction and media transmitters, skyscrapers and other structures that affirm our maitrise of the forces of nature….

Furthermore, we can deconstruct this idea to show that on a more fundamental level many objects will reflect a worship of Dualism, as “Ego” reduces to none-other than “Dualism”–Ego if nothing else defines individuality of a given object or being by its separation from everything else; and so with the existence of Ego there can never be one single existence, but there will always be at least two: the individual and everything else.

As a matter of fact, even our present technologies and our means for for attaining knowledge are a reflection of the attachment to Ego in the sense that they reinforce Dualism: The backbone of the scientific method is a form of criticism which attempts to constantly evolve our methods to include lesser and lesser bias.

Therefore, even our widely accepted form of information acquisition reflects our attachment to Ego and worship of Dualism, as it makes a distinction between the quality of knowledge obtained by unconscious and by conscious means. This is a shame, because, although technological developments are taking place at an extremely rapid rate, this rejection of a complete view restricts our access to absolute truth. Of course the archeologists will unearth the technological constructions birthed from this method and will be able to discern this fact for themselves.

Finally, let us consider what shall be the accepted consumption of Ego-supporting goods in the futuristic society of our cher archeologists. Let us assume the extreme case in which the archeologists will come from the next Satya Yuga (or “the age of truth”), in direct contrast with the Kali Yuga. The composition of its central value system includes absolute truth, pure consciousness, benevolent intention, and attainment and assimilation of knowledge.

It is almost certain then that the accepted consumption of Ego- and Dualism- supporting goods would be almost nil. Maybe it can even be conceived that Ego and Dualism would be reduced to foreign concepts or distant memories, for instance only appearing in the consciousness of society when objects are recovered from the past and analyzed for their intention.

Have you lost something important lately?

Standard

Something unrecoverable? Something that is very sentimental and it is hard to let go?

This is good news. This means that a door has been opened for you to offer something (as a sacrifice if you will) to the Universe so that you can let in the new.

This is probably the first step towards all of your dreams coming true.

So accept it with open arms and tell the Universe that you offer this item to it.
